Label and Imprints

Founded in late 2012, Música Dispersa Records emerged a few months after the launch of Música Dispersa as a radio programme. Based in London at the time, the project grew out of a desire to support experimental artists whose work I had discovered through the radio programme, many of whom were producing remarkable music but had little or no presence within the independent record label circuit. The label was created as a platform to publish, document and bring greater visibility to these artists and their work.

The first release was a limited-edition CD presented in handmade fabric bags, bringing together a selection of emerging artists, including Ewa Justka and Andrea Ferreiro, alongside pioneering figures from experimental electronics and industrial music, such as Esplendor Geométrico and Miguel Ángel Ruiz. The release marked the beginning of the label and was celebrated with the first Música Dispersa event, held at The Castle in London. This event also established Música Dispersa as an independent promoter of experimental music and sound art.

Since then, Música Dispersa Records has continued to release music through limited-edition CD publications and digital editions. In 2013, a second imprint, Música Dispersa Tapes, was established to focus on cassette releases, publishing compilations and full-length albums. A year later, another imprint was created with a very specific purpose: to publish the work of Italian experimental musician Maurizio Bianchi (MB). Dedicated exclusively to his extensive body of work, the label has released both reissues of recordings originally produced in the early 1980s and new material. These editions follow a distinctive digipak format, featuring original cover artwork by artist Miguel Ángel Martín.

Today, the three labels remain active, each maintaining its own editorial identity while sharing the same commitment to experimental music, independent publishing and the documentation of unconventional sound practices.

The complete catalogue of Música Dispersa Records, Música Dispersa Tapes and the Maurizio Bianchi imprint is available through Bandcamp, alongside other Música Dispersa projects and publications, including the book Ecos desde los márgenes.
